Uses

Cushionbed is an excellent horse bedding product, which is very absorbent, easy to use, extremely practical, virtually dust free and quick to muck-out.

The bedding is supplied in 120 litre bales that are easy to handle and stack. To start a typical stable of 12' x 12' we would recommend 8 bales.

Cushionbed is ordered by the pallet and delivery with a forklift (for large quantities) is included in the price.

Pallets of 30 or 40 bales are cling-wrapped.

To help you use our bedding we intend updating this area with advice on how to get the best out of Cushionbed.

"How to use and maintain Cushionbed"

To set the bed for a 12’ x 12’ stall you will need 7 or 8 bales. Set the bed, level to about 150mm deep, this will take about 5 bales. Use the reminder to bank up the sides and back to reduce the chance of casting. Less can be used if rubber mats are employed! The bed is slightly less deep than a traditional shavings bed, as the bedding is more dense and very much more stable, it will not separate under the horses feet.

To maintain the bed. Remove the droppings with a good muck fork as often as possible. Wet patches can be removed daily or twice weekly (semi deep littered). Cushionbed is very absorbent and damaging ammonia odours will not be present even if semi deep littered. Level off the centre of the bed from the banked sides and top up around the sides as necessary.

Because Cushionbed is denser it provides a very safe bed, it will not separate under the horses feet exposing hard floor surfaces, which may cause blemishes or joint injury such a capped hock. Cushionbed is a very supportive surface for young or injured ligaments and laminitic conditions

Because Cushionbed is so absorbent and dense, the droppings and wet patches are more easily removed. Much less bedding is used, and mucking out is quick and easy. The whole stable environment is improved with low odour, less dust and cleaner storage.

Disposal is easy and because less bedding is used, removal costs are reduced. Smaller amounts can be readily composed and used in the garden. Ensure the compost heap is aerated occasionally and that the muck heap is sited away from any watercourse
